Our 4th and 5th Graders recent unit focused on Eastern European immigration to the United States at the turn of the last century. After arriving at Ellis Island, many immigrants settled on the Lower East Side of New York City and lived in tenements. During our virtual field trip, we will visit a restored tenement where a Jewish family lived. We’ll learn about daily life in the past, see the spaces, meet the people, and get to ask us questions.
