Grade K – Gan Class Update 1/29/17

Posted on January 29, 2017

Hello Gan Class Families!

It was so great to spend Shabbat with you yesterday!  I heard so many compliments about the Gan Class students and praise for the wonderful singing and great participation in yesterday’s activities.  I hope that your Arks are a great addition to your homes, I know the students are very proud of their work.

After several weeks of excitement in the Gan Class, it was great change of pace to resume a more normal schedule.  We were able to revisit our Torah stories and illustrate our understanding of the story of Cain and Abel.  Cain and Abel were brothers.  They both made a sacrifice to God.  Cain chose some vegetables while Abel chose his very best sheep. God preferred Abel’s gift which made Cain mad.  When the brothers fought, Cain killed Abel.  In our next class, we will meet Noah and learn about the Ark he built.

After snack, we reviewed all of the letters that we have learned so far this year.  We will learn some new letters before February break.  We started  Aleph Bet Centers which we will continue next week.  Some students engaged in letter identification activities while others paired letters with vocabulary words through illustrations. Our Aleph Bet Centers will continue next week so that everyone can have an experience at each station.

Hebrew Through Movement was a highlight of the morning.  Penni Rochwerger, who last joined us for this activity in December, was very impressed with how much information the Gan Class students remembered.  There was a lot of smiling during the session and students were so tired at the end!

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about the Gan Class.
