Grade K – Gan Class Update 1/8/17

Posted on January 8, 2017

Happy New Year Gan Class Families!

I am so glad that the snow didn’t prevent us from our first meeting of 2017!

We started our day with Cantor Ken learning songs for our upcoming Kabbalat Torah or January 28th.  Cantor Ken is going to be sending out some links to these songs so that students can continue to practice at home.

Also this morning we were fortunate enough to meet Olympian Eli Dershowitz.  Eli shared with us about his experience at the 2016 Summer Olympics including his training during the year leadin up to it.  Students were interested in hearing about his time in the Religious School at Temple Israel and enjoyed a demonstration of fencing moves.  We hope to see Eli compete for the United States in Tokyo in 2020!

In preparation of Kabbalat Torah, students created their own Aron Kodesh.  This will house their personal Torah which they will receive at Kabbalat Torah.  They look great.  I can’t wait for you to see them in a few short weeks.

There is no class next week due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  Enjoy the look weekend with your families and see you on the 22nd for our Challah Baking Program.
