Today we covered the full range of emotions- from the longing of Yehudah Halevi’s “My Heart Is In The East” and “Hatikvah” to the miracle of Zionism, independence, and the early state. We talked about the first stirrings of Jewish nationalism in 19th century Europe, the waves of Jewish immigration into Ottoman Palestine, and the challenges faced by the nascent state. We left off with the stunning result of the 6 Day War and will continue in May the last 50 years of Israel’s history.
