It seems like forever ago that we met for our first class and the Apple & Honey Olympics! It was great seeing all the Vav class students again today and starting the regular routine of coming to learn on Tuesday afternoons.
We had the fantastic opportunity to be joined by Dan and Noah from Hebrew College for Mincha in the Sanctuary followed by a great Israel Program with the Gesher Class. Students were asked to make connections to several images and depictions of the map of Israel to get their ideas flowing. Many of these ideas were shared in group discussion. Through a text study we discovered and idea that Israel is a special place and as Jews we are lucky to have Israel as a place we can all identify with. We are looking forward to meeting with Dan and/or Noah many more times throughout the year!
After a few brief minutes connecting in the classroom and enjoying snack time with our friends, it was time for our very first Trope session with Cantor Ken. Students learned five trope today and were assigned homework of making flashcards for each one for next Tuesday’s class.
Next week in class we will be beginning our exploration of the holidays and how we as Jews celebrate them.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about the Tuesday session of the Vav class.
