Shalom Kitah Gimmel

Posted on September 7, 2015

Shalom Gimmel Students & Families,

My name is Elana Berelowitz (parents and students please call me Elana) and I am super excited to be working with the Gimmel class this year!
I have been teaching at Temple Israel for 16 years and have had the privilege of working with the current Gimmel class students when they were in the Bet class last year.  Besides teaching at Temple Israel I also work in the Natick Public Schools as a paraprofessional working with students with special needs, and in the summer I do Arts & Crafts at JCC Grossman Camp.
This year we will further our Hebrew decoding skills, vocabulary and script writing with the program Alef Bet Quest,  which has a reader, a companion reader, a script workbook, and online reading games.
Students will also be given opportunities to play Hebrew reading games as part of our Hebrew lessons.
As part of our Sunday morning routine we will have a morning meeting where students take turns to do various jobs such as taking attendance, reading the schedule, reviewing the days of the week, the Hebrew months and weather in Hebrew.  Students will take turns to do these tasks.  The goal of this is to have an opportunity to meet as a group and to work together on our reading and vocabulary.
This year we will also spend time talking about holidays, mitzvot, Israel and Tefillah.
Let’s get ready for a fun filled year of learning, playing, singing and FUN!
Can’t wait to get started on Tuesday and Wednesday with Apple & Honey Olympics!
L’hitraot
